Snowflake Salt

Description: Students created a winter themed art project using three paper snowflakes. First, students cut out snowflake shapes and arranged them on a sheet of paper. The snowflakes were then glued onto the paper. Next students created glue designs on the snowflakes followed by sprinkling salt over the glue. Once the glue and salt were set, students used watercolor paint to add color, allowing the paint to spread and blend through the salt. This process helped students explore texture, shape, and color while observing how materials react together to create a snowy, icy effect.

Extension Activity: Students will explain how the salt changed the way the watercolor paint looked.  then write a short reflection connecting their artwork to winter weather and how snowflakes are unique.
