Print making ornaments

Description: Students participated in a printmaking activity where they worked in pairs to design and create a stamp using Styrofoam. Each pair chose an image that represented something important to them, such as a favorite object, symbol, or a family tradition. Students carefully drew and pressed their design into the Styrofoam to create a stamp. Using paint, each pair stamped their design four times onto construction paper, arranging the prints to resemble ornaments. This activity introduced students to the printmaking process while encouraging collaboration and personal expression through art.

Extension Activity: Students will reflect on their printmaking project by identifying elements of design used in their ornament prints, such as shape, line, and color. As an extension, students may experiment with using different colors or patterns for each stamped ornament. Students may also write a short reflection explaining the meaning behind their design and how working with a partner helped them create their artwork.
