Description: An introductory project using symbols representing ourselves. First, we started by tracing our footprint, then we had to use symbols of things to represent ourselves. Two of my symbols are hand-drawn pictures of my family. The one with the pink background is the family I grew up with, having two brothers and one sister, and my mom. The one with the green background is my boyfriend and me, and our two dogs. For the symbols, there have to be several different types of media, meaning paper, stickers, cutouts, and exedra.
Extension Activity: For an extension activity, students can write a paper about what each symbol means to them and why they chose it. After writing about the symbols they chose the students will write about what the symbols say about who they are as a person. This could also work towards students writing down goals for the year that they have.
