Description: Students will learn about the different types of principles of elements then they will take a picture of 5 of the elements they can find with no repeating pictures. The pictures I chose fire hydrant: Color: How our eyes see light. In art creates different moods. Side walk: Emphasis: Creates dominance and focus in their work. Stop Sign: Shapes: An area contained within an implied line. Two dimensions length and width. Grass: Texture: Surface quality of an item can be simulated or real. Spiderwebs: Lines: Path from a moving dot. Can show shapes and direction.
Extension Activity: Students write 3–5 sentences explaining: Which element was easiest to find? Which was hardest? Why these elements are important in art? Use art vocabulary (line, texture, space, etc.).
